Pingkun Yan, PhD. Professor and Department Head of Biomedical Engineering was inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) 2026 College of Fellows on April 13, 2026 . This is among the highest professional distinctions in medical and biological engineering, making up the top two percent of engineers in this field.
Professor Yan was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of the College of Fellows “for outstanding contributions to medical image-based diagnosis and image-guided intervention through the development of innovative translational solutions addressing clinical needs.”
A formal induction ceremony was held during the AIMBE Annual Event at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia on April 13, 2026. Professor Yan was inducted along with 175 colleagues who make up the AIMBE College of Fellows Class of 2026.
