The NSF Graduate Research Fellowships were announced today and Rukmani Cahill, an undergraduate student in the BME department has been selected as a winner of the NSF fellowship. Rukmani works with BME’s Elizabeth Blaber, Ph.D., and with NASA in the Bone and Signaling Lab, studies various countermeasures to osteoporosis and space-related bone loss. After graduating, she will enter the M.S. to Ph.D. program in the Bioengineering Department of the University of California at San Diego.
The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master's and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions.
