A recent article from Ryan Gilbert's research lab was promoted to the cover of the journal Advanced Biology. The title of the article is "Delivery of TGFβ3 from Magnetically Responsive Coaxial Fibers Reduces Spinal Cord Astrocyte Reactivity In Vitro" and the authors are Jessica L. Funnell, Jasper Fougere, Diana Zahn, Silvio Dutz, and Ryan J. Gilbert.
Professor Xavier Intes' proposal, "Optimization of Hardware-based Neural Network Accelerators for Fluorescence Lifetime in Biomedical Applications" has been selected as a Future of Computing Research Collaboration project, a partnership between RPI and IBM. This research program is focused on developing AI-powered hardware accelerators for fluorescence LIDAR, utilizing a quantum camera. The integrated intelligent camera system is expected to significantly advance real-time guidance for tumor resection procedures.
Pre-Med BMED senior Michelle Nutescu will be giving a first author, platform presentation on her research at the American Academy of Pediatrics 2024 National Conference.
Dr. Xavier Intes has been named the J. Erik Jonsson ’22 Distinguished Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. An endowed chaired professorship is among the highest honors bestowed on a Rensselaer faculty member.
The department will offer a new Masters degree on Biomedical Data Science starting this fall. Since this is a new degree program, the institute has extended the application period to March 15, 2024.
