Madison Stiefbold, a doctoral
Joan Llabre, a doctoral candidate in Dr. Deepak Vashishth's Extracellular Matrix Lab, has been awarded the Koerner Foundation Fellowship. This fellowship recognizes her great contributions to the study of "Associations of Cognitive Dysfunction and Sleep Disturbances with Diabetes and Bone Fracture Risk".
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Areas of priority are neuroengineering, immunoengineering, microbiome-engineering, and biomedical imaging. BME@RPI is one of the first programs of its kind in the country.
Dr. Ge Wang has been selected by the Nuclear Medical and Imaging Sciences Council (NMISC) to receive the 2023 Edward J Hoffman Medical Imaging Scientist Award for pioneering contributions to medical computed tomography, multi-modality imaging, and AI-based tomographic imaging, as well as exemplary mentorship in medical imaging training and education. The award is given annually to a individual in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of medical imaging science.
The award will be presented on November 8th at the IEEE Medical Imaging Conference in Vancouver.
BME Senior Design students won Best Design in the category of Atrial Fibrillation at the Coulter College BMES program at Medtronic in Minneapolis, MN. The team consisted of seniors Maddy Cardillo, Hannah Giglio, Martin Huang, and Diallo Molina and they were advised by Dr. Hisham Mohamed.
A recent article jointly from Xavier Intes's Functional & Molecular Optical Imaging Lab and Margarida Barroso's group at Albany Medical College was promoted to the cover of the journal Biophysical Reports. The title of the article is "In vivo quantitative FRET small animal imaging: Intensity versus lifetime-based FRET" and the authors are Jason T. Smith, Nattawut Sinsuebphon, Alena Rudkouskaya, Xavier Michalet, Xavier Intes, Margarida Barroso.
The department congratulates the graduates of the class of 2023 who received their degrees during commencement on Saturday, May 20. We were pleased to honor the graduates at the departmental graduation luncheon on Friday, May 19.
